fear.

terror.

horror.

facing the skeletons

head on is not

something we do-

cringing, we pick them up

and toss them aside, closing our eyes-

we don’t want to see the truth

of the monsters in life-

we don’t want to see where they

land when they’ve been repressed-

non-threatening.

un-scary.

as long as the monsters stay

in their cages,

we feel safe.

but not for long-

not for me.

my monsters forged their own

keys with the

bones of my skeletons-

and it doesn’t matter where i run-

*slightly inspired by something Stephen King said, ““Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.”
